Coach Jared Bednar said Tuesday the Avalanche aren't looking to recall a defenseman from San Antonio in the wake of Nikita Zadorov's season-ending broken ankle.

    "Not for now," he said.

Cody Goloubef, a healthy scratch the past two games, will be in the lineup when the Avalanche play Los Angeles at the Pepsi Center.

    Here are the GAME NOTES.

Zadorov was injured late in practice Monday in a collision with Mikko Rantanen.

"Every team's going through injuries," Bednar said. "It's disheartening for 'Z' because of the year and the ice time he was getting and earning. Hopefully at some point he can get out of his cast and boot and get a jump start on his summer training. He's been putting a lot of work into his body in his off-ice development.

"It's disappointing. You see a young guy that's part of the future of the organization and he's quietly having a season that's progressing. He's played top pair for us since (Erik Johnson) has gone out of the lineup and has been doing a nice job. Now he's going to have to take a step back for seven weeks. We'll miss him going down the stretch here."

The Avalanche are down to six healthy defensemen, but Johnson should be back relatively soon.

    As for Zadorov's injury:

"It stinks, it's tough when you lose a guy in practice," Tyson Barrie said. "Big 'Z' has been playing well lately and it's tough to see him go down. He's been playing some big minutes. Other guys are going to have to step up and fill the role.

"We've had our fair share of injuries, not to make any excuses. It hurts, but it's not the reason we are where we are. It's disappointing, but you just keep playing."

Semyon Varlamov, who underwent season-ending hip surgery Jan. 26, was at the Pepsi Center on Tuesday working on his rehab and visiting teammates.

"He seems to be getting around just fine," Bednar said. "He keeps seeing our guys and is going through his rehab process. Everything seems to be going good."

    The Avalanche lineup:

    FORWARDS
Gabriel Landeskog -- Nathan MacKinnon -- Matt Nieto
