UN envoy to Syria, Staffan de Mistura, said he will hold bilateral meetings, on Friday, February 24, to determine the work of this new round of Syrian negotiating agenda.
He announced de Mistura, on Thursday evening, officially starting the Syrian negotiations in Geneva, said: "I look forward to the discussions tonight and tomorrow and in the coming days".
The talks will focus on Friday morning on the mechanism that will be followed during the negotiations, especially after a request primary opposition delegation, which includes the Supreme Commission for negotiations and representatives of opposition factions, go to direct negotiations with the Syrian government delegation.
The head of the negotiating team exhibitions Nasr al-Hariri in response to a question about direct negotiations: "Tomorrow (Friday) morning will be the first questions asked, the way to enter into negotiations and details of the agenda so that the process of negotiating the nature and the existence and the fact compelling, and be based on agendas and clear".
During the previous three rounds of talks held in Geneva in February, and March / March and April / April 2016, the United Nations Mediator did not succeed in gathering representatives of the opposition and the government around the same table.
At a time when the opposition demanding since the start of the path of negotiation, with full powers of the body comprising representatives from the government and the opposition, with the exclusion of any role for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad transitional provision, the government believes that Assad's future is not a subject of debate and decided by all the polls.
The United Nations describes the new round of Syrian negotiations as "historic opportunity." It is expected to be difficult because a large number of issues still stuck both in regard to the agenda, or the actual conduct of negotiations.
