Greek coastguard teams began searching for a boat that disappeared near the city of Pelos (west of Peloponnese) with 45 refugees on board.

According to the Athens news agency "safe", one of the migrants in the boat, telephoned the European emergency services, and asked for help, pointing out that the ship was a failure in the engine.

A Coast Guard vessel, a fishing vessel and a military helicopter joined the search.

According to the International Organization for Migration (IOM), some 160,000 migrants have crossed the Mediterranean into Europe since the beginning of 2017. About 75% of them have gone to Italy, and the rest to Greece, Cyprus and Spain. Nearly 3,000 people drowned in the sea. C
