OIC summit on Jerusalem begins
The emergency summit of heads of state of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) was launched in Istanbul, Turkey.
"The emergency summit of heads of state of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) began with a welcome speech by Turkish Foreign Minister Mouloud Gawishoglu," the official Tasnim news agency reported.
The leaders and ministers of 20 Islamic countries have arrived in Istanbul, Iraq, Iran, Palestine, Jordan, Qatar, Pakistan, Kuwait, Indonesia, Malaysia, Azerbaijan, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Lebanon, Guinea, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Togo, Oman And Yemen, to participate in the emergency summit of Heads of State of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari chaired the Iraqi delegation to the summit.
Egypt, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates sent their foreign ministers, while Saudi Arabia sent the Saudi minister of state for Islamic affairs to Istanbul to represent them at the summit.
The summit will be held on Wednesday following Trump's decision to move the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
