The House of Representatives on Monday issued a resolution containing eight points to compel the government to hold parliamentary elections on May 12. 

According to the decision, "based on Article 56 of the second and Article 16 and 20 of the Constitution and Article 7 ter of the Law of elections of the Iraqi Council of Representatives No. 45 of 2013 and based on what was presented by the Council of Ministers and in coordination with the Independent Electoral Commission in its resolution No. 399 of 2017 decided the House of Representatives To determine the 12 of May 2018 date for the elections of the House of Representatives that the government is committed to the following: "-



1. Provide a safe environment for holding elections. 

2. Returning displaced persons to their areas. 

3. The voting shall be electronic in all regions. 

4- The parties that are running the elections shall not have armed wings. 

5 - inventory the weapon duration of election campaign and beyond until the end of the day of polling except the official security institutions competent in the Ministries of Defense and Interior. 

6. Increase the number of local and international observers, civil society organizations and the United Nations to take the necessary measures to ensure broad participation in free and fair elections. 

7 - Ensure the participation of all citizens in the elections through the placement of funds for the displaced in the provinces of internal displacement. 

8. The House of Representatives and its committees shall monitor the implementation of the commitments received and submit them and submit to the Presidency of the Council the relevant reports.

On Monday, the House of Representatives approved the parliamentary elections on May 12.
