KABUL (Reuters) - An ambush by the Taliban terror group in the western province of Farah killed 18 security personnel and dozens of Taliban fighters, a local official said on Saturday.
"Eight members of the Afghan special forces and 10 policemen were killed after the Taliban ambushed them in the Bala Pollock district of Farah province last night," Farid Ahmad Bhakhtar, head of the Farah Provincial Council, told a news briefing.
He added that "about 40 Taliban militants were also killed in the attack, and noted that" in the wake of the ambush, a family was killed by a bomb dropped on her home foreign aircraft, in support of Afghan forces. "
