The Afghan Interior Ministry said on Monday that dozens of Taliban militants were killed in the west of the country, while a police chief was killed during the clashes.
"A large group of Taliban attacked the center of Anar Dar province in Farah and controlled parts of it," deputy spokesman Nasrat Rahimi said in a statement read by the agency. "The ground and air forces managed to repel the Taliban and expel them from the center of the province."
Rahimi said that "dozens of Taliban were killed and injured as a result of ground operations and air," noting that "eight elements of the security forces were killed, including the provincial police chief who was attacked." Ending / 25
