Mubadala Petroleum and the Italian company Eni have signed an agreement under which Mubadala will acquire a 10% stake in Egypt's Shorouq marine concession, which includes the Dhahr natural gas field.

"The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has witnessed the signing of the agreement with the Prime Minister of Italy, Paolo Gentloni.

According to Eni, "the value of the deal will be $ 934 million."
Through its Egyptian subsidiary IOC, ENI owns a 60 per cent stake in the concession and operates the Dhahr field. British company BP holds 10 per cent and Russian oil company Rosneft 30 per cent, .

After completing the deal, which needs to meet certain legal requirements, including obtaining the approval of the Egyptian government bodies, the Italian company's stake in the concession will be 50%.

The production of gas in the field of "back", which is the largest discovery of gas in the Mediterranean, began the end of 2017, and count Egypt through the discovery to meet the needs of the domestic market of blue fuel.
