    [ltr]Baghdad - Mawazine News[/ltr]
[ltr]The Foreign Ministry on Thursday responded to statements made by the leader of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) Mullah Bakhtiar regarding the staff of the Iraqi embassy in Cairo, while she was surprised by the description of the employees as "Chauvinists".[/ltr]
[ltr]"We are surprised by the statements made by Mullah Bakhtiar, describing the staff of the Iraqi embassy in Cairo as Chauvinists," ministry spokesman Ahmed Mahjoub said in a statement.[/ltr]
[ltr]The statement added, "For clarification, a number of people wishing to participate in the cultural festival in Sulaymaniyah asked the Iraqi Embassy in Cairo to grant entry visas to Iraq without formal proofs. The Iraqi Embassy requested an official letter from the festival administration carrying their passport numbers and proving I called them for this festival, but that did not stop visa issuance. "[/ltr]
[ltr]He explained that "this context is in place in all countries of the world and the embassy could not bypass this legal procedure."[/ltr]
[ltr]It is noteworthy that the leader of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Mullah Bakhtiar accused, earlier in the day, the staff of the Iraqi Embassy in Cairo, "the Chauvinists," attributed the reason to prevent a number of intellectuals in Egypt to visit the Kurdistan region to participate in the Cultural Clawiz Festival.[/ltr]
