    The participants in a scientific conference organized by the Iraqi Environment and Health Association in the United Kingdom, with the participation of the Iraqi Embassy in London, under the title "Oil and Gas Industry in Iraq .. Challenges and Opportunities", the pivotal role of the oil and gas sector in the Iraqi economy and the need to rationalize it to the maximum A limit on the good measure of what comes from its revenues and the conversion of some of those revenues to implement a clear and targeted environmental policy, so that the oil industry from the threat to the environment to a worker in its service.
    At the opening of the conference, Cihan Baban, head of the Iraqi Environment and Health Association, highlighted the strategic importance of the oil and gas sector in the Iraqi economy and the need to benefit from the oil revenues for the reconstruction and construction of the country and the provision of services and payment of domestic and international loans and a prudent investment policy that reduces unemployment and the development of national industries And the agricultural and food sector ".
    The Iraqi researcher pointed out that the increase in oil production rates should be accompanied by environmental policies at all stages of exploration, drilling, extraction, transport, storage and export, implementation of agreed environmental risk assessment contexts, respect for and adherence to Iraqi laws and legislation and adherence to an environmentally friendly oil policy.
    Baban also discussed the importance of coordination between the relevant Iraqi ministries and taking advantage of the capacities of institutes of studies and research in Iraqi universities as an important partner.
    In his speech, Nahi Yousif Al-Rikabi, the Iraqi cultural advisor in London, pointed to the economic importance of oil and gas and the strategic and scientific vision of these resources to benefit from reconstruction and development and ensure a clean environment.
    Fadhil Chalabi, the Iraqi oil expert, gave a lecture entitled "The history of oil and gas in Iraq" in which he gave a historical overview of this wealth, considering that one of the reasons for the imbalance in its exploitation is subjecting the economic economic decision to purely political goals and objectives.
    The lecture was titled "Improving the Building of Iraqi Energy Capabilities in a Competitive World", in which he presented a scientific view supported by statistics and followed by his vision of the future of energy. He said that the world has changed since 2012 due to changes in the global energy market, Gas and alternative energy. Indeed, many countries are moving towards a clean environment, such as the use of electric cars, which will increase their numbers in exchange for reducing oil use, which means that Iraq now has a golden opportunity to diversify energy sources.
    The conference also presented an in-depth presentation of the subject of oil in relation to the environment and sustainable development in various aspects through many lectures of a scientific nature by senior researchers including Salih Mashtat, Professor of Architecture at Wolverhampton University in England, Faleh Al Ameri, Somo in Iraq.
    The conference issued a number of resolutions and recommendations, including continued attention to the crisis of scarcity of water resources facing Iraq, continuing to study the impact of internal conflicts on the environment and health, and interest in sustainable alternative energy sciences.
