North Korea on Sunday staged a military parade with no long-range missiles focused on peace and economic development to mark the 70th anniversary of the country's founding.
Large numbers of spectators watched the show as tens of thousands of troops marched through a regular military line and columns of tanks in front of a parade platform to greet North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

Unlike previous years, intercontinental missiles did not appear in the show. No nuclear tests have been conducted on this day, as in the past two years. North Korea routinely uses major holidays to demonstrate its military capabilities and the latest developments in missile technology.
But it abandoned this tradition this year in reaffirming Kim's goal of denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula and his recent meetings with South Korean President Mon Jie-nen and his meetings with US presidents Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
