confirmed North Korean Foreign Minister Lee Yong Ho, Sunday that his country will not progress on nuclear disarmament unilaterally without obtaining security guarantees, due to a lack of confidence inAmerica.
"The will of our republic for nuclear disarmament is stable, but this will only be achieved with full confidence in America," the minister said in his speech at the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Lee Yong-ho called on the US side to "take appropriate measures to control its steps, first of all to build trust between Pyongyang and Washington."
"His country has not seen any positive US reaction yet, in response to Pyongyang's concessions and criticized Washington for its insistence on nuclear disarmament first, which raises concerns about the prospect of peace on the Korean Peninsula," he said.
The North Korean foreign minister said that "America believes that the tightening of sanctions will lead to our surrender, but that is just an illusion for those who do not know who we are," stressing that "the reason for the arrival of the North Korean joint declaration of the United States to a deadlock, Building confidence".
"His country's leader, Kim Jong-un, has a firm will to end the tension on the Korean Peninsula and make it nuclear-free," Lee said.
