Nineveh governor Nawfal al-Aakoub announced on Sunday the start of work on drilling 10 wells in the fields of Qayara, south of Mosul, after the conclusion of a contract between the Ministry of Oil and the company (Sona Gul) oil.
"The oil company will start work during the coming period digging wells in the site of Qayara oil after the restoration of security and the liberation of oil fields from the grip of Dahesh," he said in a press statement quoted by the official newspaper "Sabah".
"The drilling of oil fields within the fields of Qayyarah agreed between the Ministry of Oil and the Angolan company, will raise production rates in the oil fields to 60 thousand barrels per day."
