security authorities in one of the Gulf states, the Israeli Minister of Communications Ayoub Qara, for several hours.
"The security authorities at Dubai International Airport stopped Israeli Minister Ayoub Qara, where he and his crew were unable to catch up on the flight, on his way back to Israel after attending an international telecommunications conference, " the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation reported .
"The authorities in Dubai said that the reason for his arrest was due to his delay in arriving at the airport and not to obey security instructions while he was there," the BBC said.
"The passports were not returned in time," the minister was quoted as saying.
On Tuesday, the Israeli minister participated in the ITU Plenipotentiary Conference, held under the patronage of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai, UAE Prime Minister and Vice President of the UAE.
In an address to the Conference, Qara called for "peace and security for all".
"Peace and security in every country, with economic and scientific progress, is the guarantee for the future of our future generations," he said.
"The pursuit of peace is a fundamental priority for Israel, and this is done by strengthening economic relations and scientific cooperation with many countries," Ayoub Qara said.
The conference was held this year at the Dubai World Trade Center for a period of 3 weeks, with more than 2,000 participants. The conference is held every 4 years.
