The World Bank is demanding the termination of the services of more than 30,000 employees in Iraq
Political sources revealed that the World Bank told the Iraqi government that there are more than 30 thousand employees out of 4 million have become unimportant in the institutions of the state.
The World Bank said earlier that more than 1 million jobs out of 4 million were sagging, with no more than 30 minutes of work per day and their presence insignificant at all.
The IMF's recommendations are to limit government employment, at a time when Iraq is suffering mainly from a rise in the number of unemployed, which the Central Bureau of Statistics estimated at the end of December 2017, by about 4 million unemployed, as well as high employment among children and low standard of living.
"The International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, in our meeting last year, called for the cancellation of 34,000 degrees from state institutions," said Ahmed Hama, a member of the former finance committee and current deputy.
"The International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, in our meeting with them last year, stressed the need to abolish 34,000 degrees of state institutions in Iraq," Hama said in an interview.
He added that "this request came on the basis of their reports, which confirms to them that there is a significant functional dilution in the institutions of the Iraqi state and this exhausts the state budget with large sums of money."
According to other political sources for the "Journal News", the budget next year, which is scheduled to include more than 60 thousand functional degrees threatened to cancel due to the conditions of the World Bank on Iraq.
