Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir said that King Salman bin Abdul Aziz and his Crown Prince Prince Mohammed bin Salman a red line does not allow attempts to harm them from any party, as he put it.
Al-Jubeir said in an interview with Al-Sharq al-Awsat newspaper published on Tuesday morning that he rejected any allegations that insulted the Saudi Crown Prince categorically, whether leaks or otherwise.
The meeting with the Saudi minister comes ahead of expected remarks by US President Donald Trump on Tuesday that may determine the immediate officials responsible for the assassination of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, based on the CIA assessment.
Al-Jubeir said US sanctions in Khashoggi's case were individual and did not target the Saudi government or economy. He referred to the US Treasury's sanctions on 17 people for their role in the assassination.
The Saudi foreign minister said Turkey had assured them that the Saudi crown prince was not meant to charge a prominent figure with ordering Khashoggi's death.
Al-Jubeir called on Turkey to submit its evidence in Khashoggi's case to the Saudi Public Prosecution to find the full truth.
He pointed out that the statements of some Turkish figures contribute to a rift in the relations between Turkey and Saudi Arabia, and that Riyadh does not want it.
Al-Jubeir said that the Saudi version of Khashoggi did not change, but the team that carried out the operation presented a misleading and false report, as he put it.
He stressed that the Kingdom's leadership is keen to maintain the strategic and historical relationship with the United States, and expressed his country's full rejection of what he called attempts to exploit the political issue of Khashoggi.
