Erdogan: We will receive the S-400 in late 2019 and buy in local currency
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan revealed that his country will receive the air defense system "S-400" Russian late 2019, indicating that the purchase will be in local currency.
Erdogan said at a press conference held at the Ataturk International Airport to Istanbul, before leaving for Argentina to participate in the Group of Twenty summit, "Snstlm Russian S - 400 system late in 2019 and the purchase will be in local currency," recounted agency reported "Anatolia".
- uring his recent visit to Washington, Foreign Minister Mouloud Chaochoglu said that the purchase of Russian S-400 missile systems was a "settled issue," stressing that the deal could not be canceled.
The US Congress earlier threatened to suspend delivery of F-35 jets to Turkey because Ankara plans to buy air defense systems from Russia .
A loan agreement was signed between Moscow and Ankara to supply the S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems in December 2017. Turkey will pay part of the value of the deal itself and the other part of a loan granted to Russia.
