Turkey: The Iraqi Constitution requires the government to prevent terrorist attacks on our territory

Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesman Aksoi said on Saturday that his country's military operations against the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in northern Iraq would continue, noting that the Iraqi constitution obligates the government to prevent terrorist attacks on its territory.
The statement came in response to a question on the operations of the Turkish army against "Bai Ka Ka" inside Iraqi territory, and call Baghdad ambassador to Ankara, Fatih Yildiz, on Friday.
Aksoi said that the "Beka Ka" used the territory of South East neighbor for many years, a base for operations against his country.
"Tens of thousands of our citizens have been killed in these attacks, and the organization's activities inside Iraqi and Syrian territory have become a matter of national security for our country."
Ankara has repeatedly reminded Baghdad that it must shoulder its responsibilities to prevent terrorist activities.
He continued: "Article 7 of the Iraqi constitution, obliges the government of the country to prevent the use of its territory a base for attacks against neighboring countries."
Aksovi stressed that Turkey is responsible for the fight against terrorism within the framework of good-neighborly relations and the general principles of international cooperation and has the right to self-defense under Article 51 of the Charter of the United Nations.
He noted that Ankara is waiting for Baghdad to take responsibility and cooperate in a concrete manner in this framework.
Aksoi said that his country's forces had inflicted heavy losses on the organization in the air operations carried out on Thursday, targeting Okara in the areas of Sinjar and the mountain of "Karh Jag" in northern Iraq, stressing the utmost caution to prevent harm to the civilian population.
