Russia sought a ban on goods imported from Ukraine on Saturday, saying it would stop annual imports of about $ 500 million in industrial products mainly in response to economic sanctions imposed by Kiev.
Earlier this year, Russian President Vladimir Putin issued directives to the government to prepare a list of measures against Ukraine after Kiev announced economic sanctions on the list of Russian companies.
Moscow said on Saturday the new ban included industrial goods, some agricultural products, raw materials and food.
"Ukraine regularly imposes sanctions on Russian persons and legal entities and on specific Russian goods," a statement from the Russian government said.
"Since the imposition of import ban measures from Russia on specific types of agricultural products, the list of Ukrainian sanctions has expanded to include 18 kinds of products.
Russia's economy minister said on Saturday in a comment on the decision the government that the value of Ukrainian goods covered by the new ban estimated at 510 million dollars in 2018.
