A US defense official said on Friday that the withdrawal of US troops from Syria has not yet begun, but so far some military mechanisms have been withdrawn.
The unnamed official said the withdrawal of the equipment was part of the start of the withdrawal of troops from Syria.
The official did not disclose any details, pointing out that the withdrawal of the mechanisms continues, and an additional number of military personnel to assist the withdrawal. This additional number includes military personnel charged with ensuring the security of the operation.
The Associated Press said the official had asked not to be identified because the information had not yet been officially announced.
The withdrawal of 2,000 US troops from Syria, according to the decision of President Donald Trump, announced on 19 December last. Trump later indicated that there was no timetable for withdrawing troops from Syria.
