    [Asharq Al-Awsat] Speaker of the House of Representatives Mohamed Halboussi received the presence of the First Deputy and a number of deputies and heads of blocs on Wednesday, the Speaker of the Jordanian Parliament Atef Al-Tarawneh and the delegation accompanying him.
    At the beginning of the meeting, Halboussi welcomed Tarawneh and his accompanying delegation, pointing out the deep historical, geographical and social relations between the two countries.
    Al-Halbusi said during the meeting, "Iraq's keenness to strengthen cooperation with its neighbors and the countries of the region, and to be a meeting point to solve the problems of the region, as well as be the basis of relations of common interests and respect for mutual sovereignty away from the policy of axes, hoping that everyone seeks to stabilize Iraq; The region, "according to a statement by the Halbusi office.
    The Speaker of the House of Representatives stressed "the need to cooperate in the exchange of intelligence between the two countries, and work to eliminate extremism, security and intellectual, as well as support the file of border security between the two countries; to be a joint responsibility does not fail any party in its responsibility on this side."
    At the level of parliamentary relations, the meeting discussed means of activating parliamentary friendship committees, as well as activating the role of parliamentary diplomacy in the coming period.
    He also stressed the need to cooperate and provide facilities for Iraqi citizens in Jordan and to raise the visa between the two countries, praising the "Jordanian role in supporting Iraq, primarily security and economic support based on the mutual interests of the two peoples."
    For his part, Jordanian Parliament Speaker Atef Al-Tarawneh said "Jordan looks forward to relations with its Arab environment based on a common understanding of the nature of the challenges in the region."
    "We are following with interest the restoration of Iraq to its position in the Arab scene and respect for the privacy of its neighbor in its relations, and therefore we look to the Iraqi people brotherly, whether they are not separated by sects and sects, maintaining their Arab identity and not on another basis. "
    "We will focus on cooperation with neighboring countries according to the common interests that invest for the benefit of the peoples," he said, stressing that "Jordan will remain a brother to Iraq in various crises, pointing to the beginning of a new page of relations, and that this phase will be characterized by joint expression of the challenges and circumstances we face" .
    Tarawneh described the agreements and understandings recently signed between Iraq and Jordan as "an important step on the path of Iraqi-Jordanian cohesion, in order to serve the aspirations of the two peoples and their hopes."
