Direct : The US dollar rose against major currencies during trading on Friday, with renewed trade concerns.
White House chief economic adviser Larry Kudlow said on Friday that there was a great distance in US-China trade talks that should be made to make a fair deal between the two sides.
Last month saw trade talks between the United States and China, but no official decisions have been announced as the outcome of those talks so far.
For his part, US President Donald Trump said yesterday that he does not plan to meet with his Chinese counterpart before the deadline for a trade truce between them and scheduled for March 1.
By 7:40 am GMT, the euro was steady against the dollar at $ 1.1337, while falling against the yen by 0.08% at 109.73 yen.
The greenback settled against the British pound at $ 1.2947 and settled against the Swiss franc at 1.0016 francs.
At the level of the main dollar index, which measures the performance of the currency against 6 major currencies, increased by 0.08% to 96.587.
In a separate context, warnings of slower economic growth in several regions of the world increased yesterday as the European Commission reduced growth estimates for the eurozone from the current year and 2020 to 1.5% and 1.7%, from previous estimates at 1.9% and 1.8%, respectively.
The Bank of England also lowered the UK's growth estimate for 2019 to 1.2% from 1.7% in previous forecasts.
