    A local official and military source in Anbar province, west of Iraq, reported the arrival of US military reinforcements to the Iraqi border area on the border with Syria.
    The local official said the agency "Anatolia" Turkish that the US reinforcements consisting of military mechanisms of the type "Hummer" and guns and other heavy weapons reached the Tanf 490 km west of the city of Ramadi, Anbar province.
    "The objective of these reinforcements is to secure the Iraqi border with Syria, in conjunction with the military operations that were launched on the Syrian side to liberate the last stronghold of Da'az in Deir al-Zour," the local official said, preferring not to be named because he was not authorized to speak to the media.
    "The US reinforcements came from the base of al-Assad in al-Baghdadi, 90 kilometers west of Ramadi, and used the international highway to pass it to the al-Tanf area," an Iraqi army officer at the rank of lieutenant commander said on condition of anonymity.
    He pointed out that the American forces in the province of Anbar border with Syria, several bases, including the base Habbaniyah 30 km east of Ramadi, and Assad 90 km west of Ramadi, in addition to two sites in the Qaim and the eastern city of Rutba.
    No announcement has yet been made by the Iraqi authorities or the US administration about the move.
    The United States announced, on December 19 last, the start of the withdrawal of its troops from Syria by a decision of US President Donald Trump, after what he called the defeat of the "Daash" in the Syrian territory.
    The Pentagon has deployed 2200 troops in the Syrian territory, according to Washington, on the pretext of supporting efforts to combat the mobilization and training of local forces and ensure security in the liberated territories. Ankara says that US forces have deployed 18 military bases in Syria. The number currently stands at 2000.
