The President of the Republic, Barham Salih, said Tuesday that the Americans came to Iraq at the request of his government after the occupation of the organization "Da'ash" Mosul and to enable the Iraqi forces to meet this challenge, indicating that the understanding they came under they do not have permanent military bases or Ground combat forces.
"The American elements that came to Iraq at the invitation of the Iraqi government to enable the Iraqi forces to face a confrontation after the great terrorist challenge faced by the country," Saleh said in an interview with Asharq al-Awsat newspaper.
He pointed out that "there is an Iraqi emphasis on sovereignty and priority for the Iraqi interest and the Iraqi vision in dealing with the security file and needs."
The President of the Republic: "There is a confirmation that there are no American military bases and there will be no ground combat forces, that is what the Iraqi leadership sees fit within the benefits of Iraqi security and Iraqi sovereignty."
