President of the Republic Barham Salih said on Tuesday that the Americans came to Iraq at the request of the Iraqi government after the occupation of a number of cities and to enable the Iraqi forces to meet this challenge, adding that Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi will visit Saudi Arabia and other countries mid-month.
Saleh said in an interview with Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper that "the American forces came at the invitation of the Iraqi government to enable the Iraqi forces to face a confrontation after the great terrorist challenge faced by the country. I confirm in this regard that there is an Iraqi assertion of sovereignty and priority for the Iraqi interest and vision. Iraq in dealing with the security file and needs, there is a confirmation that there are no US military bases and there will be no ground forces fighting, that is what the Iraqi leadership sees fit within the benefits of Iraqi security and Iraqi sovereignty.
Saleh pointed out that "the relations between Iraq and Saudi Arabia in a continuous growth," stressing that he "touched the keenness of the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman on Iraq and the need for good relations between the parties and this is confirmed by mutual visits between the two countries," adding that "Adel Abdul Mahdi, Another in the middle of this month. "
