    - Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi is leading mediation to bring the views closer and end the differences between Saudi Arabia and Iran, an Iranian parliamentarian said on Thursday.
The head of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee in the Iranian parliament, MP Hishmatullah Falah Basha, said that "there are efforts by the Iraqi government to end the differences and bring the views between Saudi Arabia and Iran."
He pointed out to the "Tasnim" news agency that "some countries in the Islamic world in the region are aware that any differences and crisis occur in the region will affect them, especially the Iraqi government," adding that "ending the differences and tensions between Iran and Arab countries for Iraq today is a strategic issue," which Push for intervention by Iraqi mediation, which is aware of the importance of security for Iraqi leaders.
"According to the information we received, the Iraqi leaders confirm that they are trying to play the role of mediator, so they are visiting Iran and Saudi Arabia to prevent the escalation of tension between the two countries, which affects the stability of the region."
The Iranian parliament demanded that the Foreign Ministry take over the task of "dismantling" the differences between Tehran and the Arab countries, particularly Saudi Arabia, saying: "ending the differences with Saudi Arabia the best opportunity, and the Iranian Foreign Ministry should have an active role in this area."
On Wednesday, Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi arrived in the Saudi capital of Riyadh on an official visit, accompanied by senior ministers and officials in his government.
On April 7, Abdul Mahdi visited Tehran for two days, during which he met with Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, President Hassan Rowhani and a number of Iranian officials.
Earlier, an Iraqi source close to Abdul Mahdi, said that the latter will mediate between Iran and Saudi Arabia to bring the views of the two countries closer.
Saudi Arabia cut off diplomatic ties with Iran on the backdrop of Iranian protesters burning the kingdom's embassy in Tehran and its consulate in the scene in early January 2016, against the backdrop of Riyadh's execution of the Shiite cleric Nimr Baqir al-Nimr after he was convicted of terrorism.
Iraq has strong relations with Iran and Saudi Arabia at the current stage, where he visited Baghdad at the end of March, a delegation of Saudi economist headed by
Minister of Trade and Investment Majid al-Kasabi, consisting of 100 Saudi personalities.
