Iraqi government sources revealed on Thursday that there are plans of the current Iraqi government headed by Adel Abdul Mahdi, to go to Russia as a "strong" international ally.
The source said, according to "RT", "Iraq is living a situation of instability as a result of US pressure on him, especially with regard to the recent tension between Washington and Tehran, although he wants to distance himself from this tension and try not to be a party, but the recent visit of the US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo to Iraq proved that America wants Iraq to be part of any war between them and Iran. "
"Iraq may benefit from Russia much more than it could benefit from the United States, especially with regard to security, armaments and the economy, so he began to think seriously about it," he said.
The MP in the Iraqi parliament, and the Chairman of the Committee on Security and Defense of the former parliament, the governor of Zamili, on Saturday, the existence of negotiations between the Iraqi and Russian governments to provide Iraqi forces with the system "S 400".
