Washington warns of "imminent threats" to US forces in Iraq

said the US military, on Tuesday evening, said that there are potential imminent threats to US forces in Iraq, which has now become on high alert, confirming fears of troops backed by Iran in the region.
This came in a statement issued by Captain Bill Urban, a spokesman for the US Central Command, as he made clear remarks against a British general earlier on Tuesday.
Orban stressed that the US mission "is on high alert now and we continue to closely monitor any imminent or imminent threats to US forces in Iraq."
A senior British official in the US-led coalition to fight an al-Qaeda organization in Iraq and Syria said there was "no increase in the threat from the Iranian-backed militias against coalition forces."
"There is no increase in threats from Iranian-backed forces in Iraq and Syria," said Brigadier General Chris Gekka, deputy commander of coalition forces for strategic planning and information.
He added: "We are aware of their existence clearly, and we monitor them along with a whole group of others, because this is the environment in which we are in."
Gika's comments came in response to recent reports quoting undisclosed US officials, who noted increased threats from Iranian-backed forces against US forces in the Middle East, including Iraq and Syria.
