Transport is preparing to operate the river taxi from Basra to Khorramshahr

The General Company for Maritime Transport announced on Sunday that it is ready to resume work on the river trough project in the coming days, which is the river road linking with the Iranian city of Khorramshahr through Shatt al-Arab within the province of Basra.
"The company is currently preparing to resume work on the river and enter it for service next week after a break of more than two years," said Mohieldin Abdul Razzaq al-Amara, general manager of the company.
"The line will link the Shatt al-Arab Corniche and the Iranian port of Khorramshahr," the emirate said. "The line has an important role to play in reducing the congestion at the land border crossings between the two countries."
He pointed out that "the project of the company consists of 8 modern boats, which can accommodate 40 passengers and will work back and forth trips," noting that "the distinction of the trip of the taxi ride is a short time, which takes only 45 minutes compared to other ports and ports, Through it and reduce crowding, especially in times of religious events. "
"The company has equipped a passport-issuing office and as was done on the Iranian side in order to facilitate passenger traffic between the two sides of the coast," the emirate said.
