The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the statements of the two Arab and Gulf summits and expressed its rejection to them, pointing out that the statements do not represent the opinion of all the member states.
"Saudi Arabia is exploiting Ramadan and Mecca as a political tool against Iran," the foreign ministry said.
"Saudi Arabia is pursuing a wrong policy by achieving Israel's demands by spreading the differences between the countries of the region and the Islamic countries, rather than putting forward and following up the rights of the Palestinian people and the issue of Jerusalem," she said.
"Saudi Arabia's efforts to mobilize against Iran are complementary to the efforts of the United States and Israel," she said, adding that "Riyadh pursues divergent policies and wrong strategies in the region."
She expressed her "hope to compensate for the weakness of Saudi Arabia in supporting the aspirations of the Palestinian people and the wrong approach adopted by some Islamic countries against Iran at the summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and that the OIC does not permit the policies pursued by Saudi Arabia to influence the Palestinian issue and Jerusalem."
