The United States will unveil the political part of its Middle East peace plan when the time is right, amid a US assertion that Bahrain's economic plan is still on schedule, Reuters quoted a US official as saying.
The statement came hours after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with a US delegation including US Assistant Secretary of State Jared Kouchner, US envoy to the region Jason Greenblatt and US envoy to Iran Brian Hawk.
The official said the Bahrain conference "is still scheduled for 25 and 26 next month."
The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the political aspect of the plan, which deals with the thorniest issues at the heart of the conflict between Palestinians and Israelis, would be published "when the time is right."
Kouchner and Greenblatt, during the US delegation's visit to the region to rally support for Bahrain's economic conference, said these developments, which will result in early elections, will not delay the upcoming Bahrain Economic Conference next month.
The plan was originally expected to be floated in late 2018 or early 2019. But it was postponed to give Netanyahu time to hold elections and form a government. It is not clear whether they will decide to delay postponing them again until after the September elections.
Chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erakat mocked the plan, saying it was "now the deal of the next century." The Palestinians are skeptical about the plan even before it is revealed, believing it will be strongly biased to Israel.
    BAHRAIN CONFERENCE
With regard to the economic straits of the US plan for peace in the Middle East, the US State Department announced Thursday that the conference, which the United States is seeking to organize next month in Bahrain, is still in place, although Israel will see new elections.

"There is no change," said ministry spokeswoman Morgan Otagos. "The date (of the conference) was set on June 25 and 26 in Manama.
But Israel announced new elections on September 17 after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu failed to form a coalition government.
It is expected that the Bahrain conference will discuss the economic opportunities of the Palestinians through funding provided by Washington's allies from Gulf countries that have a rivalry with Iran and the United States.
The Palestinian Authority has already said it would boycott the Bahrain conference, and Trump is not considered an honest broker after recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
The United Nations has also ruled out its participation in the conference, and Farhan Haq, deputy spokesman for its secretary-general, said the UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Nikolai Miladinov, had already received an invitation to attend the conference.
"I do not think Mladenov will attend this conference," Haq told reporters.
For his part, said the leader of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in the Gaza Strip, Yahya Senawar on Thursday that the American peace plan known as the "deal of the century," aimed at the integration of Israel in the Arab and Islamic region, and end the conflict with them.
Sinwar stressed that ending the conflict "will not happen until the end of the Israeli occupation of all our occupied territories, and the return of Jerusalem."
