(Reuters) - Exxon Mobil employees will start returning to the West Qurna 1 oil field in Basra province on Sunday after the company received assurances from officials, officials told Reuters on Friday.
Officials said the first batch of returnees would be senior officials and engineers important to the company's work.
The return decision came after Exxon received letters of reassurance from the Oil Ministry and Basra Oil Company.
One official said Exxon had asked for increased security protection from the police and army at work and residence sites and that Iraq had responded
