Despite the US sanctions on Iran, and Iraq's commitment to these sanctions, Iranian goods still dominate the Iraqi market, after which Tehran will announce the increase of trade volume between the two countries to about 10 billion dollars.
US sanctions on Iran entered into force on August 7 and affected a number of sectors of Iran's vital economy, restricting foreign companies deal with them in preparation for a ban on oil, while Iraq declared its commitment to US sanctions imposed on Iran to protect its interests.
The US Energy Secretary Rick Perry went to Iraq early last December, and spoke to senior officials in Baghdad on US sanctions against Iran, calling on Baghdad to reduce its dependence on imports of energy, gas and electricity from Iran.
