The Energy Committee of the Parliament confirmed on Wednesday that the weakness of the Minister of Electricity Loay Khatib and his colleagues with the general managers and the ministry within the ministry the most important reasons for the decline in electricity throughout the country, while pointing out that Khatib is unable to make crucial decisions towards directors general and agents incompetent.
"The Ministry of Electricity did not put in its attention the treatment of transmission lines and electrical transformers, despite the fact that it is unable to absorb the volume of new energy," said member of the committee, Hibet Halaboussi. "The decline in processing hours in Baghdad and a number of provinces is behind it A number of reasons, most notably the differences between the Minister of Electricity and his agents because they do not work in the spirit of one team, as well as weak in making decisions crucial to the isolation and replacement of general managers and agents incompetent.
He added that "most of the directors-general and agents within the Ministry of Electricity follow the political parties involved in the government and put pressure on Khatib to prevent change and stay in positions," noting that "the survival of those figures within the ministry will hinder the lifting of processing hours."
The Baghdad Provincial Council revealed on Tuesday that more than 600 electrical transformers, most of them east of the capital Baghdad, have been damaged and the Ministry of Electricity is responsible for not maintaining them correctly.
It is noteworthy that the southern provinces and the capital Baghdad witnessed during the past few days power outages for long hours during the day, which caused fears of some citizens of the return of the crisis of power outages as they threatened the provinces of Wasit and Basra to demonstrate if the interruption continued because the coming months will enter the country at the peak of summer and rising temperatures for nearly 50 ° C
