Defense Minister Najah al-Shammari said Iraq refused to use its territory in any military operation.
This came during a meeting at the ministry building on Sunday, US special envoy for Iraq and Syria, Jim Jeffrey and his accompanying delegation.
"During the meeting, they discussed the continued support and support for the armed forces, which are carrying out continuous operations in the areas where the terrorist elements are present," a ministry statement said.
He praised the US envoy on the tasks and role of these forces in the fight against terrorism, stressing that "the United States respects the sovereignty of Iraq and its own military and political decisions in its territory."
For his part, the Minister of Defense said that "the Iraqi government is doing a great diplomatic and political work in the region and is respected by all and that it deals with the crisis wisely in accordance with the interests of Iraq and the region, will not allow the use of its territory to carry out any military operation from Iraq, in Iraq".
