LONDON (Reuters) - A Saudi plan to drop the Wali's permission for women's travel is part of a government effort to ease social restrictions in a male-dominated society, the Financial Times reported on Monday.

The decision, which was confirmed by two senior officials in the kingdom, one close to the royal court, comes amid increased pressure from the international community on women's rights in the kingdom, especially after the escape of a group of Saudi girls and their application for asylum in foreign countries.

The report stated that instructions had been issued to a government committee to review the laws that girls and boys under the age of 21 should not be permitted to travel outside the Kingdom without the permission of their parents. The laws are expected to be amended to allow 18-year-olds to travel without permission Guardian.

The newspaper report that the decision may see the light by the end of this year, according to a close to the Committee, and the newspaper Okaz was the first to publish official statements on these amendments.

He added that the promotion of women's empowerment was from the beginning part of the vision of the Crown Prince Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Last year, Saudi Arabia allowed women to drive in addition to removing the powers of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, which imposed restrictions on women's clothing and market entry.

He says restrictions on Saudi women have come to light this year after 18-year-old Rahaf Al-Qunun fled her family for fear of her life, and ended up in Canada, which granted her asylum.

"The state system has not been abolished. Even if it is not, this is not the end. Our goal is to destroy masculinity and end domestic violence, our struggle will continue and our voices will be raised so that all women will enjoy freedom, independence and security," the report concludes with a twittering of a Saudi woman on Twitter.
