Shafaq News / The Ministry of Planning announced on Wednesday the approval of the Council of Ministers on the draft amendment to the first law of the General Census of Population and Housing No. (40) for the year 2008. Submitted by the Ministry.
The official spokesman of the Ministry of Planning, Abdel-Zahra al-Hindawi said in a statement today that the first amendment to the law of the census, came in order to provide conditions for the implementation of the draft population and housing census next year, noting that the Council of Ministers, decided to exclude the Ministry of Planning of the instructions to implement government contracts No. (2) of 2014 and the regulations thereto.
He pointed out that the decision came to enable the Central Bureau of Statistics, to purchase the requirements of the General Population and Housing Census, in order to overcome all problems and ensure the implementation of the project, according to the timelines set for it.
He pointed out that the ministry has started its practical steps in preparation for implementing the census in October of next year 2020. He added that the preparations included the formation of the Supreme Commission for the census headed by the Minister of Planning, as well as the formation of an operations room and an executive department, Specialized.
He pointed to the existence of high-level coordination with the Kurdistan Region in the implementation of the census, which will be an electronic census through the use of tablets (Tablelet), stressing that the census will be for the purposes of development in various aspects.
The meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi witnessed the approval of the draft law on the first amendment to the Law on the General Census of Population and Housing No. (40) for the year 2008.
