The Ministry of Water Resources has pledged to process four vital files in Diyala province.
A meeting with Finance Minister Gamal al-Adli in Baghdad was devoted to discussing the issue of water and ways to take advantage of the floods that are sweeping the border areas with Iran in the winter seasons, Diyala MP Mudher Maan al-Karawi said in a statement.
He added that al-Adli pledged to support the rehabilitation of Sidi Mandali and Qizaniyah in eastern Diyala and to secure and distribute water rations in a fair manner among the cities of the province and support projects lining the rivers and irrigation streams.
He added that the Ministry of Water Resources has plans for the future of the construction of new dams near the Iranian border in order to take advantage of Iranian waterfalls and increase water reserves.
