A member of the Parliamentary Integrity Committee Abdul Rahim al-Shammari, the receipt of parliament a request from the Supreme Judicial Council to lift the immunity of 5 deputies, to investigate them on issues related to corruption.
"The judiciary asked the parliament to lift the immunity of 5 members," noting that "the five deputies accused of corruption cases involving embezzlement of funds and manipulation of projects during executive positions before they get seats in parliament."
He explained that "lifting the immunity of deputies requires either two-thirds of the members of parliament, or there is a right to the President of the parliament to lift the immunity of the MP in the event of Parliament has a legislative holiday."
