[size=18]The head of a coalition of state law, Nuri al-Maliki, on Tuesday, to continue dialogue to contain the "crisis" of the US-Iranian escalation, saying that the region is still experiencing "security crises."
"The head of a coalition of state law, Nuri al-Maliki, received today, Ambassador of the Republic of China to Iraq, Zhang Tao," Maliki's office said in a statement received by Alsumaria News.
"During the meeting, they discussed the developments of the political and security scene in the country and the region, in addition to bilateral cooperation and means of strengthening them in the interest of the two peoples," the statement added.
The statement quoted al-Maliki as saying that "the events in the region are still difficult, they are still experiencing security crises starting from Syria and ending with the American-Iranian escalation."
Maliki called for "continuing dialogue to contain the crisis," stressing the "important role played by the Republic of China in the region."
"Iraq seeks to maintain cooperation with the Republic of China by increasing the presence of Chinese companies to participate in the reconstruction process."
For his part, Tao stressed "the deep relations between China and Iraq and the sincere desire to translate Chinese concerns and promote bilateral relations."
