Saudi - Saudi Arabia and Israel are in talks on a gas project 5d428f21d43750d0418b45f7-696x392
    Information / Baghdad ..
Israel and the Israeli entity have held discussions on a gas project, an official source said Thursday, quoting an Israeli official, citing an apparent rapprochement between the two sides.
The agency quoted an official close to the Prime Minister of the Israeli entity Benjamin Netanyahu, that Saudi Arabia is considering the purchase of natural gas from the entity.
A former member of the Israeli parliament, Ayoub Kara, in an interview during which he cited talks with "senior officials" in the region, that "Israel" and Saudi Arabia discussed the extension of a pipeline linking Saudi Arabia to Eilat.
He added that Eilat was chosen overlooking the Gulf of Aqaba near the Saudi border, which is about 40 kilometers from the Kingdom.
Bloomberg said Saudi Arabia would find "an eager partner" to sell natural gas, as energy companies discovered huge amounts of gas in the Mediterranean waters off the "Israeli coastline," 80 percent of which are still unconnected to any buyers.
The report comes as Saudi Arabia plans to invest more than $ 150 billion in gas projects over the next decade, partly to meet rising demand for cheap electricity.
According to Bloomberg, an energy project of this size will require official diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and the Israeli entity, which is unacceptable in the Arab world because of its treatment of Palestinians living under occupation in the West Bank and under siege in Gaza.Ending / 25
