    BAGHDAD (Reuters) -
The United Nations Security Council is discussing in a closed session on Thursday the recent missile launches by North Korea.
South Korea said its northern neighbor on Wednesday fired two ballistic missiles just days after two more short-range missiles were launched to protest a joint military exercise planned by Seoul and Washington.
A diplomatic source said the United Kingdom, France and Germany had asked to address the rocket launches, which "violate Security Council resolutions." The topic was added to the agenda of the meeting, on the first day of the Polish presidency of the Security Council, another source said.
For more than a year, Washington and Pyongyang have begun a diplomatic process to resolve North Korea's nuclear and ballistic programs. Three summits were held between Kim Jong-un and Donald Trump. At the last of these summits in June 2019 they agreed to resume talks.
But that commitment has not materialized and North Korea has warned recently that the operation could collapse if South Korea and the United States hold joint military exercises in August 2019 as planned. Ending / 25
