Border ports: The closure of Mandali port will be temporary until it is upgraded
The Border Ports Authority announced on Sunday that it has started the procedures of closing the Mandali border crossing "in a flexible way" to enable traders to withdraw consignments gradually.
"In accordance with the directives of the Prime Minister regarding the closure of the Mandali border crossing, the Authority has begun to take all necessary measures to implement this directive in a flexible manner that will enable traders to withdraw all consignments gradually in preparation for its closure in the coming days and confirm that the Authority will inform the Iranian side of the Prime Minister's decision," the authority said in a statement. The Authority confirmed that it will "take all measures to ensure the transfer of commercial traffic from the Mandali border crossing to the port of Mandhriya," pointing out that "the Mandhriya port is enough to accommodate all the consignments that were passing through the Mandali border port."
"The decision to close will be temporary until the necessary measures are taken to develop the port and build headquarters for all departments operating in the port and bring in devices and equipment that will contribute to reducing violations that were occurring at the port."
