Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, that Iraq is "a major trade partner of his country," stressing that Iran's active diplomacy "continuing."
"Iraq is now our big trading partner," Zarif wrote in a tweet on Twitter.
The volume of trade between Iraq and Iran about 12 billion dollars annually, and Tehran aspires to increase it to 20 billion, ignoring US sanctions.
Iran is suffering an economic blockade because of US sanctions on the government over its nuclear program, which Washington opposes.
Iraq and Iran have had close ties since the fall of Saddam Hussein's regime in 2003 by US-led forces.
