Foreign Minister Mohammed Ali al-Hakim on Sunday received a copy of the credentials of Georgia's non-resident ambassador to Baghdad, Mr. Zaz Kandilanki.
"The two sides discussed ways of enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries and the importance of enhancing cooperation opportunities at various levels to meet the aspirations of the two peoples," a foreign ministry statement said.
He stressed, "The Minister stressed the importance of opening wider horizons for constructive cooperation, stressing that the strategy of Iraq in its relations is based on taking into account the common interests with the countries of the world and to serve progress, and prosperity for our people and friendly peoples."
He added, "Expressing the aspiration of the ministry to open Georgia embassy in Baghdad; because of its positive impact on the development of bilateral relations."
