The Parliamentary Services Committee on Saturday accused the parties of controlling the berths of the ports of Basra, indicating that some of the berths have become a legacy dominated by officials and their children.
A member of the Parliamentary Services Committee Jassim al-Bukhati told the information, that "the ports of Basra have turned from an economic resource for the state to the door to corruption and a source of financing parties."
He added that "the parties control the ports of Basra and control its resources as well as corruption and smuggling operations," pointing out that "turned into a legacy of some parties handed over from parents to children and from one official to another in the party."
He explained that "the Services Committee decided to visit the ports and open all its files in the coming days and revealed the authorities controlling the ports of Basra."
