The US Treasury Assistant in charge of the sanctions leaves her post

[rtl]WASHINGTON (Reuters) - US Treasury Secretary Segal Mandelker has left the administration of President Donald Trump to return to the private sector, the US Treasury Department said on Wednesday.[/rtl]
[rtl]Lawyer Mandelker was appointed in June 2017 to engineer the harsh economic sanctions that are one of the key tools of the Trump administration's foreign policy, especially toward Iran.[/rtl]
[rtl]"Thanks to Segal's firm leadership and strategic outlook for the Office of Terrorism and Financial Intelligence, the Treasury has played an increasingly central role in national security matters," Treasury Secretary Stephen Mnuchin wrote on Wednesday.[/rtl]
[rtl]He added that Mandelker "has been very active to use our powerful economic instruments and have an impact for a safer world."[/rtl]
[rtl]He said his help had told him since the summer "of the desire to return to the private sector."[/rtl]
[rtl]Deputy Treasury Secretary Justin Mosinic will now take over.[/rtl]
