    BAGHDAD - The
    Turkish presidency has asked parliament to extend military operations beyond the borders in Iraq and northern Syria.
    According to the agency "Anatolia" Turkish, said the Turkish presidency in its note that "Ankara attaches great importance to the unity of Iraqi territory and stability."
    "Terrorist organizations such as ISIS, PKK and YPK in Syria and Iraq continue to threaten Turkish national security and continue their terrorist activities against Turkey," it said.

    Syrian international media announced that Turkish drones entered from the Iraqi border and bombed positions of the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Forces (SDF) in eastern Syria.


    According to the SANA news agency, Turkey has started a systematic bombardment targeting Tal Tawil area in al-Malikiyah in the countryside of al-Hasakah province in eastern Syria, one of the SDF positions, hours after US President Donald Trump announced a partial withdrawal of his country's forces from northeast Syria.
    Turkey has announced that it will begin a military operation in northern Syria soon after the withdrawal of US troops from some of the observation points near the Syrian-Turkish border, while the Syrian Democratic Forces condemned the US move and warned of an imminent Turkish incursion.
    A senior US official announced that Trump's decision to withdraw US troops stationed in Syria near the Turkish border includes only about 50 to 100 special forces troops "to be transferred to other bases" inside Syria.
    "This is not about a withdrawal from Syria," he said, stressing that the redeployment does not in any way give a "green light" to a Turkish military operation against Kurdish forces.
    Trump has threatened to destroy Turkey's economy in the event of any US soldier being hurt in the part of which Ankara has threatened to penetrate from Syria.
    The Pentagon said it did not support the Turkish military operation, warning of the "destabilizing consequences" of such an operation "for Turkey, the region and beyond."
    The Pentagon said in a statement that Defense Minister Mark Asper warned his Turkish counterpart of "risks to Turkey" that may result from "unilateral action" to Ankara.
    "The US armed forces will not support or participate in such an operation," he said.

    In a tweet published late on Monday, the ministry said a safe area was allegedly necessary for stability, peace and for the Syrians so they could live in safety.
