The Iraqi Bar Association led a campaign to release and defend the detained protesters.
This came according to a tweet of the activist and security analyst Hisham al-Hashimi said, that "in the Bar Association about 200 volunteer lawyers for the task of releasing demonstrators across the Iraqi provinces."He added that "the number of detainees in 6 days amounted to 923 released 678 454 was subjected to various degrees of beatings and humiliation, and the efforts of the union continues to release 245 in batches, despite the amnesty launched by the Prime Minister."
