Iranian border guards commander Brigadier-General Qasim Rezaei said on Saturday that 550,000 visitors had crossed the four border crossing points with Iraq in the past 24 hours to participate in the revival of the Arbain visit of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).
"Over the past 24 hours, a total of 550,000 visitors have crossed the four Iranian border crossings (Attractive, Shalmajeh, Mehran and Khosravi) to Iraq legally to the holy shrines," Brigadier Rezaie said on the sidelines of the Khosravi border crossing.
He added: The share of Khosravi border crossing was 27 thousand people, a joint effort by the headquarters of joint operations, and we are witnessing the impressive efforts of officials at different levels in the two countries.
"According to a report I have received, so far more than 20,000 people have been legally crossed through the Khosravi border crossing to the holy shrines," the border guard commander said.
He added: If the customs of other countries were informed that within 24 hours, about 550,000 people left the country legally and without any major problems, they certainly would not believe that this volume of efforts around the clock was achieved thanks to the Almighty God.
He went on to say that during this period, we witnessed the spirit of double service from both countries, and we had various meetings with Iraqi officials and they were pleased and working to create the best possible conditions for visitors.
